Countdown to Kickoff: 61 Days

As we continue our countdown towards the 2007 season, we are now 61 days away from kickoff. Incoming freshmen Kristofer O'Dowd will be sporting the #61 jersey this season. O'Dowd is a massive 6'5" 315lb offensive linemen from Salpointe Catholic High School in Tuscon, Arizona. O'Dowd played right guard in high school and dominated his competition, earning him the nickname The O'Dominator.

In a recent LA Times article, running back coach Todd McNair was asked
How in the world does USC, with a depth chart that wound up 10 deep — yep, that's 10 deep — at tailback, persuade high school All-American after high school All-American to sign with the school and believe, beyond a doubt, they'll play from the moment they step on the field?
I think USC's ability to bring in guys like O'Dowd, Martin Coleman, Tyron Smith, and Matt Kalil definitely plays a huge factor.

Look for O'Dowd to push Matt Spanos this fall and help fortify the offensive line.
