Countdown to Kickoff: 51 Days

As we continue on our daily countdown towards the 2007 season, we have arrived at 51. We'll take you back a couple of years to the days of offensive lineman Fred Matua, who proudly wore #51 for the Trojans until leaving school for the NFL after the 2005 season...

Boy do I miss seeing him and Deuce Lutui plowing through defenders in 2005 as part of the best offensive guard combination in college football. It's a shame that he and his family had some financial troubles, which forced him to forgo his senior season and enter the 2006 NFL Draft. Matua is a fighther though, and he will make it in the league. Good luck to him with the Cleveland Browns this year.
