This defense might be the best ever. The best linebackers in the country and the top recruited linebackers as backups. We have a solid defensive line with 2 All-Americans in Ellis and LoJack. And our corners have actually improved with a mean big safety tandem in Ellison and Mays. Not to mention that Pinkard is coming back, along with utility man Mozique McCurtis able to fill any position at any time.

We have the depth, the talent, and the ferociousness to give up less than 10 points a game. Seriously.

The 2007 defense hasn't played a single snap, so let's not crown them with anything yet. I'm not sure we'll ever have a pair of linebackers like Groodegoed and Tatupu. Their leadership, instincts, and toughness were second to none. Will Poole and Marcell Almond were both active at CB and made plays everywhere, Terrell Thomas and Cary Harris need to be more aggressive and cannot be put in the same breath as those guys. If the 2007 team keeps working hard than all the stats and awards will take care of themselves.
