Countdown to 2008 Kickoff: 11 Days

We are only 11 days away from kicking off the 2008 college football season. This brings us to none other than former All-World USC QB, Matt Leinart.

An undisputed winner in the college ranks, Leinart posted an obscene 37-2 record as a starter. Leinart was the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner, a two-time National Champion, an Orange Bowl MVP, a Rose Bowl MVP, a Walter Camp Award winner, a Unitas Award winner, and provided us with some of the greatest plays in Trojan history, the 4th and 9 against Notre Dame and of course, the "Bush Push."

I really miss having Matt Leinart in command of our once proud and feared offense. Ever since Leinart's first career pass went for a touchdown against Auburn, he always brought a sense of confidence to the huddle. His audibles probably saved us countless times from Lane Kiffin's awful play calling. Leinart possessed that winning mentality that Booty never conveyed in the huddle.

Leinart always knew how to party too. With an entourage that included the infamous "Bron" and Nich Lachey, Leinart lived the life at SC. Even after leaving college, #11 was still the life of the party, as seen below...

We tip our hat to Matt Leinart, who should start for the Arizona Cardinals this season. Thank you for all the memories you provided for USC. Good luck raising baby Cole and be sure to host a another beer-bong soiree.

Get Ready for Notre Dame Week...

The last time USC traveled to South Bend to take on the Irish, the world witnessed one of the greatest college football games of all time. In an epic seesaw battle, the Trojans needed a last second score on the play that will forever be remembered as the "Bush Push" to triumph over the Irish. Trailing 31-28 late in the 4th quarter, USC first needed to convert a crucial 4th and 9 to setup Leinart's game-winning TD. The play was "82 Sluggo Win." Leinart saw a coverage he liked, audibled, and threw a perfect pass down the left sideline to a streaking Dwayne Jarrett. A couple of plays later, Leinart sneaked into the end zone as time expired and USC triumphed 34-31. Those two plays will go down as two of the most memorable moments in the history of USC Football.

Here is the clip of 4th and 9...

Countdown To Kickoff: 11 Days

UCLA gets owned by Leinart....again

With less than 2 weeks before kickoff, we arrive at #11 in our countdown, USC legend Matt Leinart. One of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of college football, Leinart set the record at USC for all-time touchdown passes and completion percentage and a stunning 37-2 record as a starter while playing for Troy. More importantly, he led SC to 2 consecutive national championships, 3 title game appearances, a ridiculous 34 game winning streak, and decorated himself as a 3 time All-American, Rose Bowl MVP, Orange Bowl MVP, Unitas Award Winner, Manning Award Winner, and celebrates what is said best by Coach Kevin O'Shea......a Heisman Trophy.

Leinart + Carroll = Dynasty

Leinart also helped restore the swagger that USC had long been missing. Unlike the taints over in Westwood, it's not only better to be a Trojan, but more fashionable. Flaunting a star-studded entourage with the likes of Nick Lachey and Bron Heussenstamm, Leinart became a star among stars in Los Angeles. He was selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals where he has become the starting quarterback. Cheers to you , Matt. Long live Troy.
