Countdown to Kickoff: 82 Days

As we continue on our countdown towards the 2007 season, #82 gives us a chance to honor Chris McFoy, another one of our beloved and departed senior leaders...

Everyone is wondering this off-season how USC will replace the production at WR from Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith, but no one ever mentions Chris McFoy. McFoy was often lost in the spotlight, never getting the credit that Trojan greats Mike Williams, Keary Colbert, Jarrett and Smith had during their glorified careers. It seems that even USC fans didn't fully appreciate how clutch this guy was for us. When he wasn't getting hyphy on the weekends, he was providing leadership to the young wide outs that are looking to fill the void this year. So here's to you Chris, we here at USC Sports Talk will always be grateful for your services.

Two Trojans sign as undrafted free agents

WR Chris McFoy, who produced many clutch receptions in his career, has signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Raiders. McFoy will be reunited with his offensive coordinator at 'SC, Lane Kiffin, who is now the head coach of the Raiders, as well as former Trojans WR Mike Williams and RB Justin Fargas.

OT Kyle Williams has signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. Williams should get a chance to compete in Baltimore because they need some depth at tackle. RT Tony Pashos was lost to free agency and LT Jonathan Ogden will probably retire at the end of the 2007 season.

Seven Trojans have now been claimed by NFL teams, after 5 were selected in last weekend's draft. The LA Times reports that FB Ryan Powdrell plans to sign with the Packers, which would then make the list 8. This was a successful draft for the Trojans when you consider the players who left USC for the NFL early last year. Last year's early entrants included RBs Reggie Bush and LenDale White, OT Winston Justice, and OG Fred Matua.
