That is what the Worldwide Leader in Sports has coined the USC program which has 3 senior linebackers dominating the Senior Bowl practices. Rey Maualuga, Brian Cushing, and Clay Matthews are attempting to cap off their amazing senior seasons with strong performances in this year's Senior Bowl in front of hundreds of NFL scouts, coaches and GMs. Todd McShay says that the Trojans could see its 3 linebackers taken in the top 40 picks of this year's NFL draft. Excluded from the Linebacker U talk is USC's other senior linebacker, and this year's Rose Bowl defensive MVP, Kaluka Maiava. With QB Mark Sanchez expected to be taken at the top of the draft as well I think the phrase NFL-U may be more appropriate.
Fight on!

USC 35 - Ohio St. 3
USC destroyed Ohio St. in the alleged "Game of the Year" this past Saturday, 35-3. In what was supposed to be a hard fought, close game, Ohio St. simply bent over and let USC have their way with them. Mark Sanchez threw 4 TD passes and cemented his place in the Heisman race.
We all knew Ohio St. sucked ass, but I guess we didn't realize the extent of the damage. "Star" RB Chris Beanie Wells sat out the game and ends his Heisman campaign in street clothes. For all of the Ohio St. fans trying to rationalize their miserable lives, face the facts: Beanie Wells would not have made a difference. USC dominated Ohio St. in every aspect of the game and unless Beanie can play at all 11 positions on the defensive side of the ball, his so called talents wouldn't have mattered in lessening the beat down this past weekend.
Pussy.
Star LB Rey Maualuga showed why he is the best linebacker in the nation with a great game that included his first career touchdown with a 48 yard interception return. Big Rey outplayed, out-hustled, and out-classed that piece of shit James Laurinaitis the entire game.
Fuck Laurinaitis.
In other great news, fucla still fucking sucks...
All in all, a great weekend for the Trojans. Next stop: at Oregon St. on Sept. 25.

Countdown to Kickoff: 58 Days
Just 58 days until the most feared player in college football steps back onto the field...Middle LB Rey Maualuga #58

Maualuga used the 2008 Rose Bowl game against Illinois to stake his claim as the best linebacker and best defensive player in the country. His efforts earned him the game's Defensive MVP Award, but Trojans fans were a little nervous that this dominant performance would be his last in a USC uniform.

Big Rey shocked a lot of people when he chose to return to USC for his senior season, but I know why he came back. He's hungry...

We've all seen what Rey can do, but rest assured that this man beast will not rest until he is holding that the national championship trophy. Ball-carriers better not cross his path, no one has wrecked the opposition quite like this since Man-bear-pig...

This video is a nice reminder of why Big 58 is so great...

Spring Ball
Pete Carroll is probably the only person capable of coaching Rey Maualuga. Not only does Rey own the police, he's capable of inflicting pain, and even more pain... For Coach Carroll to approach Rey, let alone yell at him in practice is admirable. I can't wait for the 2008 season to begin and for Rey to unleash more suffering to opposing players.

In 5 Days...
Hate Week has officially started here at USC Sports Talk. Some call it Troy Week, Rivalry Week or the Battle for Los Angeles, but we here at USC Sports Talk call it Hate Week. We fucking hate UCLA. Maybe I'm not speaking for the group, but I sincerely HATE UCLA. Back in high school I had thoughts about attending that institution. I applied. I was accepted. But I chose USC and now I loathe anything powder blue. We've been waiting for this game for a long time, and it's fast approaching. Patrick Cowan's neck and jaw still crack every time he chews, courtesy of Mr. Rey Maualuga. Pete Carroll still wakes up in a cold sweat after the abomination that happened last season, but rest assured all of you Westwood pieces of dog shit, USC will be ready this Saturday... ready to fuck up the Bruins. The sharks are circling around the Coliseum, and they smell blood already.

Countdown to Kickoff: 58 Days
As we continue on our daily countdown towards the 2007 season, we are now at 58. There is no question who should represent this number on the countdown...USC linebacker Rey Maulaluga!!

The 6'3" 250 lbs. middle (Mike) linebacker is the unquestioned leader of a Trojan defense believed by many say to be the best in the Pete Carroll era. Maualuga is by far the most feared player in the Pac-10, just ask Patrick Cowan. Aside from his punishing big hits, he plays with so much heart and incredible passion. He makes what seems to be every tackle, plays with a mean streak and unmatched toughness, and has the ability to chase down down ball carriers from sideline to sideline. This guy is every thing you look for from a linebacker, and yet, he's still only a junior. Though he split time with last year's senior defensive captain Oscar Lua at Mike linebacker, Maualuga still managed to make a name for himself and is ready to break out into the national spotlight this year. He will be a full-time starter for the first time in his young career and has barely even scratched the surface of his potential. At times, he tends to overrun plays and is a bit too aggressive, but that can be corrected. This is a result of his competive nature and nothing more than inexperience and a desire to do too much. I believe he will learn to stick to his assignment and trust his teammates to their job as well. He is a year wiser now and will be better disciplined and more knowledgeable of his position, assignments, role on the defense, and how each defensive player complements each other. I can't wait to see this guy unleashed against opposing offenses.
Here's to the 2007 Butkus Award winner...
