As we continue our countdown to the 2008 season, we arrive at #33. There's only one #33 at USC and that man is the great Marcus Allen. The 1981 Heisman Trophy winner rushed for 2,342, becoming the first player in NCAA history to rush for over 2000 yards in one season. A regular on the sidelines at USC home games, Marcus Allen helped USC earn the moniker "Tailback-U."

Countdown to Kickoff: 33 Days
As we continue on our daily countdown towards the 2007 season, we are now 33 days away from getting big things poppin' and welcoming the University of Idaho to the Coliseum. Trojan legend Marcus Allen immortalized #33 by winning the 1981 Heisman trophy...
Marcus Allen was USC's last great running back of the 2oth century, beginning with Mike Garrett in 1965 , that led to USC being dubbed "Tailback U." As a fullback ('78-'79), he helped the Trojans win a championship in 1978 and opened up running lanes for 1979 Heisman trophy winner Charles White. He also had a great game against LSU in 1979, where the Trojans when marched into SEC country to once again demonstrate how USC does business. He then moved to tailback for the '80 and '81 seasons and went on to become one of the greatest ball carriers in the history of college football. The first picture above is his Heisman portrait from the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, IN. Allen's success translated to the NFL, where he won Super Bowl XVIII and was named the game's MVP. The second picture above is from Sports Illustrated on Campus, who recently named Allen the best Trojan athlete of all time.
Fight On!
